NYFW will be starting next week and it will a first time for some designers!

 

 

Small Boutique Fashion Week will be focusing on up and coming designers who will be making their debut on the Runway!  One of my fabulous contacts via Audrey Smaltz and The Ground Crew ,Chyvonne Cantey, will be one of those designers!

Born and raised in NYC, Chyvonne always had a passion for fashion. Since the age of 10 she used to sew clothes for her dolls. After realizing her gift, Chyvonne decided to attend FIT where she mastered her skill set. After perfecting her trade, Chyvonne went on to work for a fashion company where she was able to utilize her craft while gaining more insight into the business of fashion.  Now after 5 years of learning all the tricks of her trade, Chyvonne is ready to launch her first Pre-Fall  collection this Fashion Week!

This collection will have inspiration from many amazing eras of fashion, dating as far back as the 1800s and as current as the 1970s. 

 This Ready to Wear, jetsetter line will be able to make a woman not only look and feel feminine, but it will elude enthusiasm and confidence! 

If you love embellishments and looking for an easy transition from work to evening attire, than this is the collection for you! In a few words, Chyvonne describes the collection as Chic and Elegant, with a bit of Funkiness and Edge! Think of a rising Alexander McQueen, as that is one of Chyvonne’s design inspirations!

The House of Adrian Alicea Haute Couture announced last week it is set to debut its Spring/Summer 2012 Collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I love when I come in contact with Creative People, especially exceptional designers with an inspiring story!

Let me introduce I to you, Collage Artist and Designer, Tuesdai Noelle.  Tuesdai reached out to me about a week ago and when I saw I her lovely designs, and read her bio, I was excited to feature her on LADI CHIC. I think we all struggle with our dreams and most importantly we all face many different obstacles to accomplish them, but if you ever had a doubt that you not exactly where you are meant to be, then Keep the Faith!

Just 18months before launching her company, Tuesdai was unemployed and homeless but she didn’t let that discourage her creativity or hinder her dreams of providing customers with her one of a kind designs. In my opinion this minor setback gave Tuesdai the thick skin and determination to succeed in this very cut-throat industry. Fashion is a very challenging and competitive field and definitely not a career choice for those who become easily discouraged with challenges.  Tuesdai has definitely overcome the odds, and proven to be a ‘Diamond in the Rough’.

Starting off providing Decorative Denim, Tuesdai now has an exclusive collection of glamorous handbags called "Messi Floor"! Considered a Designer for the “Everyday Girl” Tuesdai aims to give Fashionable and Affordable pieces to her customers: those who want to look of High-Fashion, but without breaking their pockets!

Fashion and Art co-exist with the captivating creativity of Lauren  Luna Ltd. Teacher, Artist, and Designer are just a few titles that describe the very talented Lauren Luna. I was introduced to Lauren by a mutual friend and when I checked out Lauren’s Work I was immediately drawn to it! Graffiti, Paintings, Sculptures and not to mention her fabulous Shoes!  Who can resist beauty especially when conveyed in a versatile and innovative expression?!

Not only was I  blown away by Lauren’s skills but I was overly humbled by her philanthropic efforts! For the past 9 years Lauren has been a Special Education Teacher to emotionally disturbed youth.  Lauren uses her talent as a behavior incentive to her students and every 9 weeks a winner is chosen  based on the maintenance of their positive actions and receives a pair of Lauren’s custom-made shoes.  Outside of the classroom, last year Lauren produced a Fashion Show called Se7en Deadly Sins to raise funds for inner- city scouting with Boy Scouts.  Lauren also created her first Custom Ladies Calendar  and donated $1 from each calendar sold to Barefoot Kids Foundation. Due to the success of the calendar , this will be now be an annual  project. Talk about changing lives one mission at a time!

Hip Hop Politics

Lauren’s Passion, Drive and Generous Heart will all contribute to her future successes without a doubt!  Talent definitely speaks for itself and you can see that all through Lauren’s work!  When asked how Lauren would like to be remembered as an artist/designer, she replied “ As an Artist, I’d like to be remembered as someone in the trenches trying to make a difference in people’s lives and I brought it to light so that other’s could see the wrong doing of society and would be willing to do something about it. As a Designer, I would like to be remembered as someone who always gave back. Everyone of my projects has had a beneficiary other than myself. The world won’t change alone. Changes must be made and they start with me.”  With that being said, I encourage you all to get to know Lauren and be inspired to do something as powerful and remarkable as she is, I know I am!

Lauren is currently working on completing on completing her Master’s in Fine Arts and always creating new pieces  for her collection. Lauren is currently represented by Terra Gallery in Columbus, OH. In the next five years, Lauren would like LaurenLunaLtd. to be mass distributed in major high-end stores throughout the world, for her paintings to be in major galleries and museums, and  to continue to pursue her passion making a nice living while changing the lives of other’s through her work!
